On June 19th, Dr. Bruce Gahir and Prof. Stefano Cavagnetto from 麻豆社区's School of Business took part in two important panel discussions as part of the NGO Community - Building International Bridges project, supported by the International Visegrad Fund.
The two panels were 鈥淢edia Literacy: NGO鈥檚 role in combating fakes and manipulation鈥 and 鈥淐ommunication and negotiation in time of crisis: new challenges and best practices鈥. Dr. Gahir's contribution focused mainly on the concepts of misinformation, disinformation and malinformation using the Czech Republic as a case study. Prof Cavagnetto鈥檚 contribution provided a general context of communication in times of crises and best practices that have emerged during the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent breakout of the war in Ukraine and in the Middle east.
Both panels were masterfully moderated by Dr Ma艂gorzata Bonikowska, from the Centre for International Relations, and lead to very insightful points about the current situation. The panels were attended by several NGO members and leading experts from the field. Special contributions were offered by Olexia Basarab, from , Ruslan Deynychenko from , Bohdana Neborak of and Agnieszka Ostrowska, from the .
鈥淚 really enjoyed all the presentations and the discussions with the other panelists and attendees from different countries鈥 says Prof Stefano Cavagnetto, 鈥渁bove all it was an excellent experience to learn directly from the people who work daily in strategic communication, and counter disinformation and malinformation in real world settings. I wish there could be more of these initiatives and with a larger audience for the benefit of all communities, and to raise awareness against the threats facing our society鈥.
