The New Beginnings Conference for educators took place in December at PCU’s Polska campus. The event saw in excess of 70 teachers of English from institutions ranging from primary to tertiary education.
Teachers from Prague as well as other locations around the country arrived full of enthusiasm and drive to share their theoretical as well as hands-on ideas around the Communicative Language Teaching Approach.
The speakers included experienced professionals from both PCU and , who co-organised the conference. Break out sessions and workshops included titles such as Critical Thinking in the English Classroom, Skills-based Activities for Teens or Exam Task Talk Time. The full was organised by Leona Máslová, a lecturer from the School of Education with 25 years experience teaching in Hungary and the Czech Republic. One guest speaker, Gareth Davis (UK), was sponsored by Cambridge Â鶹ÉçÇø Press.
Participants’ feedback was overwhelmingly positive and PCU is excited to have made this contribution to the professional development of teachers of English in the Czech Republic. All contributing parties have expressed great interest in repeating a similar event in 2023 so stay tuned!
